Autumn 26.

Thank you to everyone who visited Artworks annual exhibition at Blackthorpe Barn this September. The work from the professional group of contemporary East Anglian artists looked amazing under over 30 metres of thatched roof. I saw this exhibition as an opportunity to debut new work and really enjoyed the experience of curating my space and working with the group. It’s such a lovely place to be, and I took the opportunity to do some drawing in the sunken garden and along meadow walks - these will no doubt be developed into drawings and prints later this year!

Looking Out is a recent limited edition woodcut print and an exploration into a new format. This is the print I was working on at Artworks in Blackthorpe Barn last month, during my ‘meet the artist’ day. It was fantastic to share my process and techniques for ‘transferring ink, from drawing to print’ with visitors to the exhibition, including a wonderfully inquisitive primary school group. Working with the wood grain when drawing, carving and printing is integral to my printmaking practice and I was able to show different stages of the process through the day. This print will be coming to Print East Print Fair this Saturday 10th October and also heading to the Bury St Edmunds Guildhall exhibition next week!

NEWS THIS MONTH

GUILDHALL EXHIBITION

BURY ST EDMUNDS

I’m delighted to be co-curating this members Art Exhibition at the historic Bury St Edmunds Guildhall this month until 25th October. We’ve been busy preparing the event behind the scenes and with over 100 artworks to hang in this historic venue there’ll be so much to come see! We'd love you to join us for our ‘meet the artists’ event on Saturday 17th October 1pm - 4pm when you can meet the people behind the work and learn more about Suffolk Open Studios.

NOVEMBER OPEN STUDIOS

SUFFOLK OPEN STUDIOS

As seen here carving away in my garden studio in June, I’ll be opening my studio again on the weekend of 14th and 15th November. I’ll be demonstrating process, answering questions, chatting about art and selling work directly from where it’s created! The beast of the press in my small studio was definitely a talking point last time and I look forward to welcoming visitors in my print studio again next month.

DRAWING DEVELOPMENT YEAR

ROYAL DRAWING SCHOOL

Looking ahead I’m very excited to be offered a place on the Royal Drawing School Online Drawing Development Year! Beginning January 2017 I’ll be engaging in structured self-curated live tuition and critical dialogue with tutors, mentors and peers. Spending this amount of focused time on observational drawing, imagination, and printmaking will be transformational. I’ll share my journey on Instagram and look out for an invite to the end of year group exhibition!
